Welcome to Atalanta’s
Oxford University’s Club by and for sportswomen
Atalanta’s is the leading society that promotes and supports the University of Oxford’s women in sport. Founded in 1992, we have grown over the years and now have a wide network of resident members from over 24 different sports teams across the university, as well as a strong alumni database. It is run by the student committee formed of current sportswomen at the university and a board of trustees who are all Alumni.
Women’s sport at Oxford has gone from strength to strength over the last few years. Particularly exciting recent landmarks have been the Ladies Blues Boat joining the men on the Thames to participate in the annual televised Varsity Boat Race from 2015, and the Women’s Rugby Blues playing at Twickenham from 2016. It is wonderful that such fixtures are now constants in the Oxford sporting calendar.
Atalanta’s aims to recognise and foster the impressive achievements of sportswomen across the University, helping you to meet and be inspired by other hard-working, skilled and like-minded individuals across all sports. We seek to promote the development of sportswomen at all levels of University sport, through grants, our vibrant social events calendar, and inspiration and support from fellow athletes. The 2020/21 committee will continue further the work Atalanta’s has already done in helping sportswomen at Oxford, whilst also striving to improve diversity and access to sport at Oxford. Year on year, our scholarship programme and outreach work continue to grow and improve as the Club develops in exciting new ways.
Atalanta’s allows you to stay connected with all of your fellow Dark Blues during your time at Oxford and beyond. I am very excited to take on the role of President and help lead Atalanta’s through the year ahead.
Please feel free to get in touch with me via email: email@example.com and we would love to see you at one of our events!
