History of Atalanta’s Society
Atalanta’s was founded in 1992 by Sarah Lion-Cachet (née Loosemore) and Hero Brown and has tried to maintain the values and perspectives of its founding members throughout its twenty year history. The article below appeared in the Times in 1992, written by an old Oxford Blue Sally Jones about the founding of Atalanta’s, which Sally has kindly provided for us. The society was set up as a female alternative to the Vincent’s Club and, driven by Oxford’s most talented and inspirational sportswomen over the years, has developed a style and approach all of its own to become the inclusive society we know today.
